Trufusion: 60 Min. Tru Express

Day one of my first 2017 fitness journey began at 6 a.m. with Trufusion’s Tru Express class. This 60 minute hot yoga class is set at 102 degrees with 46% humidity. It was challenging and worth every minute of the heated sequence.

When my alarm went off at 5 a.m. today, I wasn’t sure I was ready to take on a full hour of hot yoga. However, I packed my mat and headed to Trufusion Summerlin to begin my complimentary month.

I arrived 10 minute early to allow myself to get acclimated to the heat. The yoga sanctuary, like most studios, was proclaimed a quite room. As I entered, several other yogis were already inside preparing themselves for the sequence. I begin my practice with savasana, complete relaxation, as I waited for the instructor, Noelle, to begin.

Trufusion has created their own style of hot yoga taking pieces from the typical Bikram style practice. We began this workout with the standing series which included balance, flexibility and strength poses.

I was pleasantly surprised at my strength and muscle memory to hold these difficult poses. The series moved quickly from pose to pose to keep our heart rates high. I moved fluidly from balance to strength and excelled at the flexibility poses. The instructor even provided additions to the poses to dig deeper into the muscles. I really felt the stretch and burn then.

When we arrived at the floor portion of the series, my legs were feeling heavy. I was grateful for a little water break and the spine strengthening poses.

My favorite part of the floor poses was the added eagle crunches. Eagle crunches are a binded form of standard crunches. They are killer and get deep into the muscles.

After the class had finished, I felt revitalized and ready to take on the day. Although the soreness is starting to set in, my posture is better and I feel more focused.

Keep checking back to follow my journey through the Trufusion courses.
