Keeping A New Year’s Resolutions

nye-2017

2017 has officially arrived and so have the millions of New Year’s resolutions that probably will not be fulfilled. Only 8% of people who make a New Year’s goal will succeed in keeping it.

The top resolutions are:

Lose Weight
Get Organized
Spend Less, Save More
Enjoy Life to the Fullest
Learn Something Exciting
Stay Fit and Healthy
Quit Smoking
Help Others in Their Dreams
Fall in Love
Spend More Time with Family.
Here’s how to keep those resolutions.

Make it something you really want. Resolutions sparked by other’s needs and wants will never be fulfilled. Think of something only you can give yourself and your bound to accomplish it!

Limit your number of goals. Don’t be the over achiever that has lists of 2017 resolutions. Stick to two or three at the most .

Be specific. Don’t generalize a goal you’re hoping to achieve. It leaves too much room for excuses. If you want to lose weight, how much and by when?

Make a plan. Set specific dates for each level of achievement. Creating check points along the way to your final goal will help you to evaluate your progress. Even mini daily goals that lead to your final product or find an accountability partner will keep you on track.

Be prepared to change. Don’t fool yourself into believing that achieving a hefty New Year’s resolution will be easy. You’ll have to change the habit that caused you to need this resolution. You can’t continue to binge on pizza if you’re training for a six pack.

Forgive yourself. You’re going to mess up. Rome wasn’t built without several builders forgetting where they left their hammers. Acknowledge your fault and move on.
