Getting kids to pay attention to big church can be difficult. So we started looking for resources to help get my toddler involved with learning the bible and connecting with God. This Sunday, we focused on learning about loving God and loving others.
“Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” – Matthew 22: 37 – 39
Activities:
We found some great resources from Ministry to Children. Here are the activities we did.
- Hide it in Your Heart Necklace

Supplies:
- Scissors
- Construction paper
- String/ribbon
- Markers or decorating materials
- Hole punch
Instructions:
- Cut out several hearts from paper.
- Write out the Bible verse spreading out the words on each the heart.
- Place a hole in the top of each heart and string it together!
2. Love with All Your Mind Headband


Supplies:
- Scissors
- Paper
- Glue/Tape
- Markers / Crayons / Stickers
- String
- Pipe cleaners
Instructions:
- Cut paper to fit the width of your child’s head.
- Write the scripture “Love God with All Your Mind” on the headband.
- Decorate with hearts, pipe cleaners, stickers, etc.
- Tape or staple your headband closed and wear!
3. Love Target Game
Supplies:
- Paper plate
- Markers / Crayons / Stickers
- String
- Scissors
- Something light to throw (pom poms, cotton balls, paper balls, etc.)
Instructions:
- Design your dartboard on the plate by adding a paper heart in the center. The heart can say the scripture we learned, quotes about love, or whatever inspires you.
- Add extra decorations and run a string through the top of the play.
- Now play!
