How to celebrate your birthday during a pandemic

Happy birthday to me! I’m officially 29 and celebrating another year couldn’t have come at a better time. Like many of you, the pandemic created new obstacles in my life. At times, it even made it difficult to see the good. Now that I’m in 2021, I’m doing my best to look for a positive future starting with an awesome birthday!

Here’s how I celebrated. Maybe these ideas will inspire you for your upcoming celebration too.

Get a Matching Tattoo

Although I am not new to tattoos, it’s been 10 years since I experienced that pain. However, I had been eyeing a few designs for quite a while and my mom was also itching to add to her collection. So, we decided to get matching tattoos! We chose the sunflower because it’s my mom’s favorite flower and I always think of her when I see them. I also got a scripture on the inside of my wrist. You can see it here on my Instagram.

Indulge in Gluten Free Cake

Nothing Bundt Cakes is my all-time favorite dessert. But since I found out I am gluten sensitive, I’ve stayed away – until they brought gluten-free to their menu! For my special day, I enjoyed a sizable slice of their chocolate chip bundt cake. And it was AMAZING!

Celebrate with a Bday Twin

For most of my life, my sister and I have celebrated our birthdays together. With 7 years and 3 days apart, it’s kind of a tradition. For our kid birthday parties, I’m sure she was annoyed at splitting character bday cakes and double sleepovers. But as adults, it’s brought us that much closer.

Have Breakfast Outdoors

To finish my birthday weekend off, I enjoyed breakfast with my best friend, husband and son at Makers and Finders. Since it’s located in downtown summerlin, there was plenty of ways to stay safely distanced and enjoy the fresh air.

All in all, 29 has been a great year so far. I can’t wait to see what great things the rest of 2021 brings!
