7 Habits to Happiness

Here’s a list of seven habits from Pure Flix to put an end to your negative perspective once and for all.

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.” Philippians 4:7

1. Change Your Thoughts
This may sound trivial, but the easiest way to stop feeling terrible to is to start thinking about something amazing! Instead of dwelling on all the things that didn’t go your way, focus on your successes. Find the positives and hold on for dear life.

2. Change What you See

Facebook uses an algorithm to affect users emotions. They may flood feeds with happy posts from their friends to test their positive reaction. Or, they may only show sad posts to see the negative responses. You can also apply this method to what you see. Instead of filling your screens with depressing stories about pain and angst, find something that is lively and brighter. The more you surround yourself with light, the easier it is to forget about the dark.

3. Change Your Music

Are you listening to music that is inspiring and motivating you? Or, are you filling your ears with songs that bring up bad memories and push the life out of you? Music is everything and everywhere and you can control what you allow yourself to be exposed to.

4. Change Your Conversations

Don’t be a Debbie Downer. No one wants to be friends with someone who complains about everything and hates everyone. Try this practical next time you want to spew word vomit on your friends. Share two positives from your day, one thing that bothered you and something you look forward to.

5. Change Your Attitude

Finding joy in every situation is completely up to you. Whether you’re enduring a storm or just trying to make it by, your response is your decision. If you want to be happy, just do it. You can reprogram your thoughts to acknowledge the negative and thrive on the positive.

6. Change Your Focus from Getting to Giving

Seek out opportunities to give. Buy a stranger a coffee. Give clothing you hardly wear to someone who needs it. Bake cookies for your coworkers. Giving is contagious and who can be upset at freshly baked cookies?

7. Change Your Language

Your tongue is a double-edged sword. If you’re not careful, what you say can destroy a relationship. Focus on praising others around you and building them up. Words are powerful and can make anything happen.
