I am the first to admit that I do not get a great night’s sleep unless it’s in my own bed. Still, I do love the excitement of renting a fancy hotel room.
If you’re like me, sleep is VERY important. Here’s a few tips on how to catch the best Z’s while you’re away.
Bring Something From Home
I always bring at least my favorite blanket when traveling anywhere. Whether I’m staying in the Ritz Carlton or a Motel 6, there’s no guarantee I’m going to like the pillows or blankets. I avoid this issue by bringing my own.
Request Room Location
If available, I also ask for a room on a high floor away from the elevator. Once you’ve slept next to an elevator hoarding dozens of Vegas party animals, you’ll realize the need for some peace and quite. And as a perk, you’ll be able to see more of the city!
Request Tea
I will admit, I am an avid tea drinker. I usually have a tea for every ailment. However, I stick to my theory that tea before bed will help you sleep better. Even in hotels, I drink some sort of herbal tea before bed. Many hotels will even give you complimentary hot water – just provide your own tea.
Use Lavender
Lavender oil and mists are proven to help calm and relax the mind and body. I travel with a little lavender beauty product – lotions, spray, etc. – and use it before bed. It helps me calm down from my busy day and fall asleep seamlessly.
Get Some Exercise
Almost every hotel has some sort of exercise room and a pool. Use the amenities you’re paying for. Work out some of the tension from traipsing around your destination with a little cardio or swimming. Don’t forget to wind down in the hot tub.
