Staying Fit Through the Holidays

Bring on the stuffing and brownies, holiday season has arrived. Enjoy all of your favorite Christmas treats while staying in tip-top shape with these few tips.

Find a workout plan.

As upset as it is to hear, there is no magical six-pack over night routine. Staying fit requires hard work. But, working out doesn’t have to suck. I am the queen of hating the basic workout “run on a treadmill – lift weights – stretch.” Maybe it’s the performer in me that needs a little spice to my workouts. For me, I use Blogilates. Cassey Ho is the creator of this awesome Pilates experience and basically lays everything out for you – meal plans, daily workout routines, clothes, mats, health tips, etc. Her sites are your one stop shop.

Get into a social group.

I recently joined a Facebook social group to help keep myself accountable. The moderator provides daily challenges, somewhat health related and a daily check-in to maintain your progress. Personally, it’s helped me stay motivated especially when it comes to drinking water. Find a group or create a group and share your goals with your friends.

Know your limit.

The golden rule of staying fit is to eat right. The holidays are definitely here and they have brought pounds of sweets and heavy foods with them. It’s okay to indulge in your favorite treats, but monitor your consumption. Getting your dream body is 20% gym and 80% kitchen. Ask yourself, do you really need that second helping of pie?

Stay active.

“Baby it’s cold outside!” Get the blood flowing and burn a ton of calories having fun! Winter means ice skating, sledding, LOTS of shopping, visiting Santa multiple times and visiting those beautiful light displays. Don’t let yourself become a couch potato just because hot chocolate is served. Get out and enjoy these few chilly months!
