30 Days of Creativity: Day 23 – Act Freely

act freely quote by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi for FLOW: 30 Day Journal Project

Today’s prompts:

  • Remember a time when you acted freely, unselfconsciously…
  • What did that feel like?
  • What enabled you to take such free action?
  • What was the reward for acting so freely?

Remember a time when you acted freely, unselfconsciously… As I sat at my best friends house playing Mario Kart with his little brother, I realized how at ease I truly was with myself. I joked and laughed and allowed myself to be obnoxious.

What did that feel like? I felt overwhelming comfort and freedom from judgement. I allowed myself to be quirky and goofy like I normally am alone. I didn’t worry about what everyone else in the house would say. Whether anyone would laugh at my jokes or get offended by my side comments.

What enabled you to take such free action? I stopped thinking.

What was the reward for acting so freely? It may have been just a simple game of Mario Kart, but it was a great realization of self-identity.

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” – 1 Peter 2:9
