Definition of Beauty

women praying handsIn today’s world, beauty can be determined by your outer appearance. When someone is deemed beautiful, it’s because they are appealing to the eye. I used to fall into this trap – this lie that I was born to compete in an unending race.

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” – 1 Peter 3: 3 – 4

I never believed that phrase “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” People change their mind so much why would their tastes remain the same? After a lifetime of fighting the same battle, I’ve given up on pleasing everyone. The only eyes I hope to find me beautiful are my husbands and God.

My features will changes. My skin will fade. My hair will gray. All of these features that determine a persons beauty are fleeting. It’s the heart that lives on.

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” – Proverbs 31:30
