Cost of Forgiveness

IMG_2066Forgive: to stop feeling anger toward (someone who has done something wrong) : to stop blaming (someone)

What does it cost us to forgive each other?

We want to see “justice” done, but it must satisfy our own interests. “I can love him but I don’t like him.” This type of “forgiveness” is an unbalanced concept of love that doesn’t match any concept taught in the bible.

“Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.” 1 Peter 1:22

We must realize that justice does not belong in our hands. God is only person who has the ability to deem the proper judgement. We are called to really love each other, not just tolerate each other.

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Romans 12:10

Forgiveness cost God His Son on the cross. He offered the ultimate sacrifice while only hoping we’d love him back.  What will you have to sacrifice to just let it go?
