30 Days of Creativity: Day 25 – My Best Flow

morning catToday’s prompts:

  • My ideas flow best when I am..
  • My ideas flow best during…
  • My worse creative times of day / week are…

My ideas flow best when I am feeling very happy or very sad. Sometimes when my day feels overwhelming, whether good or bad, I crave a good writing session to get my ideas on paper. It’s one of the few times I actually have that allows me to truly be myself. No rules, just me.

My ideas flow best during trials. It’s hard to appreciate what’s going on around you when everything is perfect. When something difficult it forcing you to hold yourself together, you start to closely observe every detail of your life. For me, I tend to my emotional when things don’t go my way. I don’t like when life doesn’t follow my timeline. With this mentality, it’s inevitable that I will face disappointment. And when it comes, I re-evaluate why I am feeling this pain. I have to force myself to focus on all the silver linings and what I should be learning through this period.

My worse creative times of day / week are in the morning and on the weekends. One, I am not a morning person even a little bit and cannot get my brain to function that early. I can recall doing private lessons with my cheer coaches and them denying a session in the morning because they knew I would probably be at my worst.

Weekends are also a challenge because I find myself distracted by little things. I’d rather work on something at night and get all of my creative juices out. After a busy work week, concentrating is the last thing I want to do.

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” – James 1:2
