2024 Outlook

2024 Outlook

The New Year celebrations have come and gone and 2024 is officially here. Many things happened in 2023 that made time go quickly and slowly. Let’s look at my 2023 highlights and then I’ll share my 2024 goals and outlook.

2023 Highlights

First and foremost the top highlight of 2023 was an all-in-one event. I learned I was pregnant in January and welcomed a new baby boy in August. The waiting game felt so long for his arrival, but time flew by quickly.

While pregnant, I had a few highlights along the way including a baby moon to Solveign where I was able to explore Danish culture for the first time in person.

Then my oldest hit a few milestones. He graduated Pre-K and started Kindergarten at a brand new school. It was a big learning curve going from playtime all day to sitting at a desk learning but he did it. He even made the honor roll in his first quarter and has made many new friends.

The latter part of the year truly flew by the quickest. We celebrated our first set of holidays including Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. With those came lots of fun and a few sicknesses including Luca’s first cold. Then we wrapped up the year with an amazing fireworks display to kick off the new year.

2024 Goals

Looking now at 2024, I am currently staying home for the first time ever. There are so many possibilities ahead of me. This break from my day-to-day career is giving me time to learn some new skills personally and professionally.

Goals:

  • Read a passage of the Bible in Hebrew
  • Get back in shape and compete in a Crossfit competition
  • Build my early childhood education skills
  • Investing in a new mom neighborhood

These are my top three goals that I have already started working on. From my professional experience, I have learned that it’s most important to find SMART goals that allow you to track a specific metric to see progress. I’ve also learned that breaking your big goal into small parts that you can complete quarterly is ideal. I have begun breaking these big goals into smaller chunks such as learning the Hebrew alphabet this quarter, starting a macro challenge at the Crossfit gym I attend daily, and connecting with a college advisor about early childhood education.

If you are thinking about your goals for this year, I recommend trying this method. Make your goals actionable and break them down into achievable elements.
