Las Vegas yogis are taking over every square inch of the community. From Yoga on the Lawn with Trufusion to practices at the Valley of Fire, the options are endless. Silent Savasana is a specific yoga experience that is blowing up the city.
Using the noise cancelling headphones, instructor Dray Gardner, teaches beginner and expert students the joy of yoga. I experienced my first class poolside at Red Rock Hotel and Casino.
I arrived at 6:15PM on a Tuesday night and was astonished at how many individuals had already covered the pool deck. Silent Savasana team members had already set up a check-in table accompanied by a growing line. At the table, each person received their headphones and a battery operated tea light.
I grabbed by items and found an open spot near the DJ. The deck was quickly filling up with yogis of all ages. The air was buzzing with excitement about the upcoming 75 minute practice.
Gardner began the practice with instructing everyone to place their headphones on and open their hearts. A local DJ spun instrumental mixes of popular songs that pulsated through one ear of the headphones. Gardner spoke through the other.
I was expecting a somewhat easy practice seeing as there were so many levels present. Gardner had an entirely different agenda. We flew through challenging balance poses on four arms, hands and heads. He encouraged everyone to fall in and out and just let the day go.
Through out the practice, Gardner shared his journey. In 2006, a doctor told Gardner he would need to undergo a serious back surgery. Refusing to do something so risky, Gardner reached for yoga and fell in love. One year later, Gardner attended his first teach training and has been helping people discover their inner light ever since.
We finished the practice as the sun went down bonding between the small candle light. I love yoga because of the freedom. The ability to fall in and out of poses with no judgement and just let yourself go. Silent Savasana helps you find yourself on your mat.
Silent Savasana is available all over the city including at station casinos, the High Roller at the LinQ. Checkout their full schedule of events here. Follow their social channels for more updates on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
