That cliché catch phrase “Good Vibes Only” is all the rage in my generation. And although most people only associate this with a good time and good music, the bible actually supports this movement. Not literally the whole “vibe with me” and play good music, but it supports surrounding yourself with people who will build you up. A.K.A. giving good vibes.
In Proverbs, the scriptures instruct the people to be cautious of who they associate themselves with. In chapter 22 verses 24 – 25, it says “Don’t befriend angry people or associate with hot-tempered people, or you will learn to be like them and endanger your soul.” (NLT)
As humans, we tend to absorb characteristics from the people closest to us; especially the negative ones. It starts with one idle pass at a friend’s Hulk moment. Soon enough, you too will be turning green and taking down buildings.
Surround yourself with people who love you and will encourage you daily.
“But exhort one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” – Hebrews 3:13
